Conroe, January 19 – When citizens read The Golden Hammer newspaper, they enjoy a unique product in this community. The newspaper is just that: a newspaper. Unlike one alleged competitor and its sister newspapers of the Hearst Corporation, we’re not just a blog that seeks information from government officials so that they may portray their government agencies in the most favorable light. Unlike one small newspaper in this community, we investigate stories, stick to carefully-checked facts, and distribute in a manner that gets the news to your fingertips as rapidly as possible.
We’re a newspaper, not a blog. We do invite posts at the end of stories.
The Golden Hammer enjoys a strong relationship with just under two hundred employees of the Montgomery County government who have kindly provided us with information, documents, and sources. There are employees of several other taxing jurisdictions who have begun to provide information as well. At the same time, The Golden Hammer has strong ties to our business community who generally support our fundamental opinion that the reach and financial burden of government have gone way too far.
The Hearst blogs don’t report stories if there is criminal activity for which the legal statute of limitations has expired. If we uncover important facts (such as Goetzgate) involving illegal activity, the expiration of a statute of limitations is not relevant. Citizens have the right to know what happened whether government officials chose to take timely actions regarding those matters or not.
The Golden Hammer invites comments, suggestions, criticism, and discussion. That’s an important attribute that makes a group of people a community. The Publisher is old enough to remember the days when people used to sit around the porch with their friends and neighbors and have serious discussions without the interference of portable electronic devices in every person’s hands. We encourage such communication both with and without the electronic devices.
Let’s have fun together and make our community a better place!
