The Golden Hammer shouts “FOUL!” to national media over CBO report coverage on American Health Care Act

The Woodlands, March 13 – The Golden Hammer‘s Publisher Eric Yollick stated that he is “furious”, “enraged”, and “appalled” over the national media’s terrible coverage of the Congressional Budget Office’s report regarding the American Health Care Act. Yollick cried “FOUL!”

“The national news media only has covered the number of people who might have less health care coverage under the proposed legislation,” Yollick explained. “They’ve ignored the main purpose of the CBO report and the primary purpose of the Congressional agency: to provide fiscal analysis of how much the bill would cost American taxpayers. It’s a particularly egregious lapse in media coverage because the CBO concluded that the American Health Care Act would save taxpayers trillions of dollars over the next ten years.”

The CBO report, issued March 13, 2017, includes the following conclusion which the national news media has largely failed to report: “CBO and JCT [Joint Committee on Taxation] estimate that enacting the legislation would reduce federal deficits by $337 billion over the 2017-2026 period. That total consists of $323 billion in on-budget savings and $13 billion in off-budget savings. Outlays would be reduced by $1.2 trillion over the period, and revenues would be reduced by $0.9 trillion.”

Yollick added, “Like some of our local media that’s lamely trying to compete against the august Golden Hammer publication, the national media at every turn will defend big government all around, even to the point of intentionally deceiving their readers. We should get behind Secretary Tom Price, the Trump administration, and the true conservatives in Congress who seek repeal of Obamacare. While the American Health Care Act may not be the answer, let’s call a spade a spade. That proposal will save a boatload of tax dollars.”
