Conroe, November 25 – The Golden Hammer, Montgomery County’s leading daily newspaper, will continue the tradition which its Publisher began last December by announcing a series of articles concerning the Power Top Ten. The Power Top Ten does not commemorate the ten best people in Montgomery County but the most powerful people who are actually able to accomplish political or policy goals.
This newspaper requests input, which we’ll treat as confidential, to either one of our email locations: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also submit your suggestions through The Golden Hammer tipline.
Last year’s Power Top Ten were:
#10 Sheriff-Elect Rand Henderson (now Sheriff).
#9 Halff Associates, Inc., Regional Vice President Bobby Adams.
#8 County Auditor Phyllis Martin.
#7 Precinct 3 County Commissioner James Noack.
#6 CISD Superintendent Don Stockton.
#5 Precinct 1 County Commissioner Mike Meador.
#4 Woodforest Bank Chairman and then-CEO Robert Marling.

There were five Runners-Up recognized last year: Woodlands Township Chairman Gordy Bunch, local political boss Marc Davenport, Precinct 4 Constable Rowdy Hayden, State Senator Brandon Creighton, and Republican Party Chairman Walter Wilkerson, M.D.
The Golden Hammer has never presented a “Mad Cow Award” for the worst elected official in Montgomery County, but the Publisher of the newspaper did present one last year.
The “Person of the Year Award” recognizes a person who made the most positive change in Montgomery County during calendar year 2017.
The Golden Hammer will begin to announce the Power Top Ten, beginning with #10, on December 1, 2017, and continue every three days.
The “Mad Cow Award” and “Person of the Year Award” will both publish on December 31, 2017.
