Eric Yollick, The Golden Hammer
The Golden Hammer makes its first endorsement for the March 6, 2018, Republican Primary Election. This newspaper endorses United States Senator Ted Cruz. Granted that’s a pretty easy endorsement to begin the new year.
Ted Cruz is a thorn in the side of the political establishment in both political parties in the United States Senate. Both Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer do not count themselves as Cruz’s fans. Nevertheless, they both rely on Cruz at times, because they know he’ll stand up for what is right.
Cruz was a major leader in the efforts to repeal Obamacare and was one of the critical members of the Senate who wouldn’t accept a repeal that was little more than a health insurance industry anti-competition law. Cruz and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul consistently argued for a straight repeal of Obamacare that would have opened up insurance markets in every state to real competition, while the repeal would have left the portability and pre-existing condition protections of HIPAA in place. When McConnell and House Republicans continued to try to pander to Big Insurance, Cruz drew the line in the sand.
When Schumer needed a Republican ally to stand with him to support the transfer of the United States Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, to whom did he turn? Ted Cruz, of course. Cruz doesn’t stand for partisanship. Rather, he stands for what’s right.
Even Cruz’s detractors recognize the man as absolutely brilliant. Harvard Law Professor once said that the two most brilliant students he ever had in his Constitutional Law course were Ted Cruz and some guy named Obama.
Cruz holds an important position in the Senate. He has one of the most conservative voting records. He’s one of the few Republicans who consistently votes against appropriations bills (as they all should). Cruz actually follows the Republican Platform’s call for lower government spending and a sharp reduction in the federal deficit.
Ted Cruz is the eyes and ears of the regular citizens. The political elitists despise him. That’s precisely why he deserves to win the Texas Republican Primary Election on March 6, 2018, to make sure Cruz remains in the United States Senate to watch out for us.
The purpose – and bias – of The Golden Hammer is that this newspaper supports sharply reduced government spending, smaller government, greater reform, and less corruption. At this point, this newspaper focuses on the Montgomery County government.
The March 6, 2018, Republican Primary Election is critical, because it provides the opportunity to clean out a lot of the corruption in Montgomery County. For that reason, the Publisher of this newspaper has every intention of supporting candidates with his money. Let’s be clear, this newspaper will not make contributions to candidates but, in some instances, the Publisher might.
The Golden Hammer‘s Editorial Board believes that for the purpose of full and fair disclosure, with each editorial, we should disclose how much the Publisher has contributed to an endorsed candidate candidate in this election cycle.
Amount The Golden Hammer‘s Publisher Eric Yollick has contributed to Ted Cruz during the 2018 election cycle: $0.
