The Golden Hammer, Montgomery County’s leading daily newspaper, endorses Republican Steve Toth for State Representative District 15 in the November 6 General Election. It’s not just State Representative District 15, which is south Montgomery County, which needs Toth. All of Texas needs him in the Texas House of Representatives.
If you’re looking for a laser-focus on critical issues such as property tax reform, reducing State government spending, and requiring the San Jacinto River Authority to do its job “to provide flood control,” it’s clear that former State Representative Steve Toth is the right person for the job. Since Toth left the Texas House of Representatives in 2014, he has continued his work non-stop as a businessman, community leader, and path blazing conservative. Toth has worked tirelessly for conservative candidates at the local, state, and federal levels of politics. He’s motivated good people to run and worked for them every day late into the night after they’ve made the decision to do so. He’s also worked for nonprofit organizations, such as the Mighty Oaks Warrior Foundation, which assists military veterans who have trouble returning to civilian life.
Even though he’s not yet in the Legislature, during the past year or so, Toth has worked tirelessly with Montgomery County Sheriff Rand Henderson and numerous law enforcement agencies school districts across Texas to establish a protocol for community-wide emergency response plans, which involve planning for all law enforcement agencies and first responders in every community across the Lone Star State.
Watching Toth campaign in the parking lot of The Woodlands Community Center is an amazing sight to behold. Singlehandedly, he covers a 2 acre parking lot. He talks with everyone. Whether he’s on the ballot or campaigning for someone else, Toth is ready to speak positively and learnedly about the candidates and the issues.
Toth attended seminary and is an ordained minister. He served as a teaching pastor and elder at WoodsEdge Community Church. He was one of the most successful sales executives in the history of Johnson & Johnson. He and his wife, Babette, own two small businesses, one which designs and builds swimming pools and the other which provides swimming pool maintenance services. The Toths have three grown children.
While he served in the Texas House of Representatives, Toth received top ratings from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Texas Eagle Forum, Texas Right to Life, Young Conservatives of Texas, and the Texas Chapter of the Concerned Women of America. Empower Texans and Texas Right to Life have endorsed Toth in this election. Former Montgomery County Judge Alan Sadler, Precinct 4 Constable Rowdy Hayden, State Board of Education member Kenneth Mercer, and five of the seven members of the Woodlands Township Board of Directors have also joined Team Toth.
While Toth’s focus is on representing the bedrock conservative community within his District, his election to the Texas House has reached a level of importance far beyond. Due to the terrible liberal manipulations of outgoing Texas House Speaker Joe Straus, the Republican Representative from San Antonio whom the State Republican Executive Committee has censured for his terrible voting record and defiance of the Republican Party Platform, the House Republican Caucus will face some very important decisions even before the 86th Legislative Session begins. The most important of those decisions will be election of a new House Speaker. Toth has argued strenuously that Republican members of the Texas House should commit to supporting the Republican House member whom the Republican Caucus members select, as opposed to doing a “devil’s bargain” with liberal democrats like Straus did to win election and throw conservative Republicans into a minority position. Toth will surely be one of the critical members of the House Republican Caucus to work to ensure that Republicans elect a Republican Speaker who commits himself or herself to the Republican Party Platform.
A decent man with strong principles who has spent thousands of hours helping others in our community presents an easy choice for the Texas House of Representatives. Steve Toth, the Republican Nominee, deserves your vote in the November 6, 2018, General Election.
