The Golden Hammer, Montgomery County’s leading daily newspaper endorses Gordy Bunch for re-election to the Woodlands Township, Position 1, in the November 3, 2020, General Election. It’s an easy choice, despite some of the controversy Bunch has brought upon himself.

In the history of the Woodlands Township, there simply has never been a Director who has garnered more knowledge and shown more preparedness on Township issues than Bunch, who is currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors. On every issue – taxes, spending, details of Township operations, and more – Bunch has always done his homework. It’s refreshing to see an elected representative who has taken the time to learn all of the details about the governing entity on which he serves.

Bunch applies his business experience, his analytical mind, and his foresight to guide the Township and the Board. He is an excellent public servant and deserves re-election to the Board of Directors.

Bunch has clearly gone far beyond supporting a referendum to allow Woodlands voters to decide whether they wish to incorporate as a city. He advocates fiercely for incorporation.

His fierce advocacy is where Bunch has become controversial. He is not making information available to allow voters to decide. Rather, Bunch has guided the Board’s consultants to present reports which support incorporation. Bunch never presents both sides of the issue and has not provided information about the true costs to Woodlands taxpayers of incorporation. If he were merely providing information actually to allow voters to decide, Bunch would truly be precisely in the place where he should be.

City governments add substantially higher taxes, more bureaucracy, ordinances, and likely much higher costs for utilities and other infrastructure, such as the maintenance of roads. Hopefully, during his next term, Bunch will act more like a referee than like a zealous coach of the pro-incorporation team.

Either way, however, someone with the knowledge and governing sobriety of Bunch deserves re-election and voters should give Bunch that opportunity on November 3 and during Early Voting, which begins on Tuesday, October 13, at 8 a.m.

President of the United States: Donald Trump

In this Sunday, June 14, 2020 file photo, President Donald Trump gives a thumbs-up while walking across the tarmac as he boards Air Force One at Morristown Municipal Airport, in Morristown, N.J.

Montgomery County and Texas voters should send the strongest message to Americans: Donald Trump is an historic President who deserves re-election and a second term to complete the work he has begun in his first term.

President Trump has led important steps in deregulation of business after the Nation suffered twenty-four years of regulatory expansion under Presidents Obama, Bush, and Clinton. He has made greater strides in immigration law enforcement than any President since World War II. President Trump has nominated three outstanding and strong conservatives to the United States Supreme Court.

The distinction between President Trump and his opponent is a commitment to free-market capitalism versus a rapid swing towards western European socialism, which we would suffer during the administration of his opponent.

Montgomery County voters need to deliver an eighty percent (80%) to twenty percent (20%) margin to President Trump to help make sure he wins Texas’ votes in the Electoral College. In 2018, a strong effort by the Victory 2018 Committee of the Montgomery County Republican Party resulted in Governor Greg Abbott receiving eighty percent (80%) of the vote in Montgomery County while Senator Ted Cruz received seventy-two percent (72%) there. It’s vital that the Victory 2020 Committee work to deliver the same margin for President Trump.

Voters should help them and give a resounding victory to President Donald Trump on November 3.
