Suspect Arrested After Northeast Conroe Shooting Sunday Night

On January 22, 2017, just before 10:00 pm, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department dispatched detectives to the Conroe Regional Hospital in reference to a shooting that occurred in the 11800 block of Megan Drive, Conroe, Texas 77303, northeast of downtown Conroe.

Upon arrival at the Conroe Hospital, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit learned that a 22 year old male was brought in, by friends, to the Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the head.  The medical staff pronounced the 22 year old male victim, identified as Mark Anthony Guidry Jr. DOB 09-04-94, from Willis, Texas, dead.

During the investigation, Detectives learned that Guidry along with four other friends traveled to the 11800 block of Megan Drive, Conroe, Texas in an attempt to buy narcotics from the suspect, Joseph Gaige Blunt, a white male, DOB 08-16-98.

The Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Unit, the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, along with representatives with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, executed an arrest and search warrant at Blunt’s residence located in the 11800 block of Megan Drive, Conroe, Texas 77303.  Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies took Blunt into custody and additional evidence was recovered from the residence.

The motive for the shooting appears to be narcotics related based on the information obtained from the witnesses.

Sheriff Henderson would like to thank everyone involved for bringing a dangerous suspect into custody swiftly and without further incident.
