Stewart announces candidacy for Montgomery County Clerk in 2018 GOP Primary Election

Conroe, March 9 – Montgomery County native Jeanie Stewart has announced her candidacy for Montgomery County Clerk in the 2018 Republican Primary Election. Mark Turnbull, the longtime County Clerk, has not announced whether he will run for re-election to serve another term after his term expires on January 1, 2019. The County Clerk maintains real property records and other vital records of the County, serves the County Courts at Law and the Commissioner Court as the official clerk, and provides numerous other County services under the Texas Local Government Code and the Texas Constitution.

Stewart has served as a Montgomery County employee for 9 years. She worked for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in the Auto Theft Department until Sheriff Tommy Gage promoted her to serve as the assistant to previous Chief Deputy Randy McDaniel. For the past 4 years, Stewart has worked for Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack organizing and managing the rental of the four community centers in The Woodlands area. She also oversees the daily operations of the South County Community Center and Senior Center, which provide activities and lunch Monday through Friday for the benefit of the senior citizens of Montgomery County.

Stewart’s goal, as County Clerk, if elected, is to provide quality customer service that is effective, friendly, and helpful by building on the core principles of integrity, respect, dependability, accountability, and hospitality. Stewart said, “As County Clerk, I intend to evaluate the policies, procedures, and budget to identify opportunities to better serve the needs of our community. Under my leadership, the atmosphere of the County Clerk’s office will be one that encourages higher work performance and boosts employee morale. The motto will be ‘Service with a Smile.'”

Stewart is a native of Montgomery County. She graduated from Conroe High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a dual minor in Public Administration and Human Resources. She noted “My formal education, coupled with the fact that I have consistently been in touch with County residents through my employment positions, uniquely qualifies me to serve as the next County Clerk of Montgomery County.”
