Sheriff’s Office investigates Porter train-bicycle accident

Montgomery County Sheriff Rand Henderson.

Porter, January 7 – On January 6, 2021, at 7:25 AM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office of Sheriff Rand Henderson were dispatched to the area of Loop 494 and Ford Road in Porter in reference to a Union Pacific train striking a bicycle. What was particularly strange about the accident was that the train traveled 12 miles beyond the scene of the accident before stopping.

After searching the area, Deputies located a deceased white male on the railroad tracks at FM 1314 and Loop 494. The deceased was later identified as 52 year old Robert Matlock.

Homicide/Violent Crimes Detectives were requested, and arrived on the scene to continue the investigation which is ongoing.
