RAW announces candidate vetting, endorsements process, calls on LSGCD publicly to list candidates who have filed

Conroe, July 13 – Restore Affordable Water, a group of Montgomery County residents, business owners, and community leaders who are demanding truth, transparency, and accountability from the Lone Star Groundwater Conservative District (LSGCD), has invited all candidates running for LSGCD positions to participate in RAW’s formal endorsement process.

“We invite all candidates for LSGCD to be considered for an endorsement and we will evaluate all candidates in a consistent manner,” said RAW President Simon Sequeira.

To be considered for an endorsement, candidates must formally apply for an interview by submitting a form on RAW’s website, restoreaffordablewater.com, and completing a candidate questionnaire that will be emailed to them.

Due to pressure by RAW and the citizens of Montgomery County, LSGCD finally called the November 6, 2018, election. Nevertheless, RAW averred, “once again due to a culture of mismanagement and continued disregard for transparency at LSGCD, RAW is forced to demand that LSGCD publicly disclose on their website a list of candidates that have filed to run its board.”

“The LSGCD has no excuse for its procrastination and lack of transpaency,” continued Sequeira. “It is the board’s duty to inform the public about candidates for office and they have failed to do so,” said Sequeira, added, “Local political races are important and RAW takes this seriously.  We welcome candidates’ and the publics’ comments, questions and thoughts on these issues and look forward to having a robust debate on the issues and the future of LSGCD.”
