Conroe, December 19 – Texas Patriots Tea Party PAC President Dr. Julie Turner is the 4th most powerful person in Montgomery County.

The Golden Hammer, Montgomery County’s leading daily newspaper, continues the tradition of listing the Power Top Ten, the ten most powerful people in Montgomery County. The Power Top Ten doesn’t commemorate the ten best people in Montgomery County necessarily, but the most powerful people who are actually able to accomplish political or policy goals. In other words, they can get things done.

At the end of this month, we’ll also commemorate the “Person of the Year Award” for the Montgomery County person who was responsible in 2017 for the most positive change for our community and the “Mad Cow Award” for the worst elected official in Montgomery County during 2017. If you have suggestions, please send them to us at goldenhammermoco@gmail.com or ericyollick@swbell.net. We will treat your suggestion in confidence.

To begin the Power Top Ten this year, The Golden Hammer has already named:

#5 Precinct 1 County Commissioner Mike Meador

#6 Precinct 3 County Commissioner James Noack

#7 Conroe Independent School District Superintendent Don Stockton

#8 Sheriff Rand Henderson

#9 418th District Judge Tracy Gilbert

#10 State Senator Brandon Creighton.

Power Top Ten #4: Texas Patriots Tea Party PAC President Dr. Julie Turner

Not only is Turner the fourth most powerful person in Montgomery County but also she’s one of the most interesting people involved in politics. What is unique about Turner is the fact that she rarely appears in a public setting. Turner is a full-time mother and wife. Turner and her husband have two children. She works very hard for her family. In other words, Turner has a real life outside of politics.

Turner holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University. If you engage her in any sort of lengthy discussion, you’ll see how adept she is at gleaning information from others. While cordial, kind-hearted, and friendly, Dr. Turner is a brilliant person and very circumspect. She takes marked care with her words both privately and publicly. Turner doesn’t give a lot of public speeches, but, when she does, they are always very impressive. If there is anyone who personifies the “anti-good ol’ boy” movement in Montgomery County, it’s Julie Turner.

Turner and the Texas Patriots PAC have mastered the art of influencing voters at the instant when citizens come to vote by providing them with easy-to-read and thoughtful voter guides. She has enraged contractors, engineers, and some developers who have sought to buy influence when they give large sums of money to the “good ol’ boys” who are more than ready to soak up those funds and give the contributors the influence they want. Dr. Turner has had her greatest influence in down-ballot races where voters tend to be far less informed. The Texas Patriots PAC has not been quite as successful with the top-of-the-ticket races, such as the 2016 8thCongressional race, or the runoff for county judge in 2014. When voters know their candidate before they arrive at the polls, the success of the methodology of the Patriots PAC wanes outside of The Woodlands.

Turner has a nationwide following. Conservative fundraisers throughout Texas know Turner and respect her. The Texas Patriots PAC is one of the most successful and influential Tea Party organizations in the United States both in fundraising and in organization. The organization maintains its influence due to Turner’s behind-the-scenes leadership and the continuing work of its keenly intelligent Vice President Jon Bauman and Treasurer Bill O’Sullivan.

Why is Turner #4 this year as opposed to #3 where she was in 2016? For two reasons. First, Turner has devoted a lot more time to her family and a bit less to managing the operations of the Patriots PAC. Don’t think for a moment, however, that conservative reform-minded candidates, who are serious about running for major elected offices, don’t discuss their ambitions with Turner usually before they announce they’re running. Second, and perhaps far more importantly, Turner has succeeded in a major goal of her work that has led to her moving one position down the Power Top Ten. (More on that later.)

Don’t read too much into the Laura Fillault loss inside The Woodlands, because it was more a reflection of a very weak candidate than of any waning influence of the Patriots PAC or of Turner. Fillault had weakened herself. Fillault had angered her political base who stayed home in numbers sufficient to make the race winnable for someone else, just as what the nation witnessed in Alabama with Roy Moore’s loss to a democrat.

Definitely in The Woodlands and south Montgomery County, Dr. Julie Turner gets things done in our community. That’s what power is all about.

Dr. Julie Turner thoughtfully, carefully, and circumspectly has enormous power in Montgomery County, a remarkable accomplishment considering that wielding that power is a part-time hobby for this bright lady.
