Hit-and-run suspect Raul Najera in custody in the Montgomery County Jail.

Conroe, July 6 – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Raul Najera for the hit and run death of Ray Jasso in New Caney.

On July 3, 2017, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit received a tip from a party goer that a video existed of the vehicle responsible for the death of Ray Jasso in New Caney. After reviewing the video, registration information was obtained, which led Detectives to a residence located in the 600 block of Frisco St., in Houston, where the driver of the vehicle was identified as Raul Najera, a Hispanic male whose date of birth is June 16, 1992. He was not on location, however. The Detectives did not locate Najera at that time. The Sheriff’s Office did seize the vehicle, a 2002 grey, Chevrolet Suburban, at that time.

Simultaneously, the Sheriff’s Office received another tip leading to the identity of the male subject with tattoos on both sides of his face. An investigation confirmed his identity as Emmanuel Olivares, also of Houston. He was interviewed by MCSO Detectives and at this time is only believed to have been a passenger in the vehicle. Charges against Emmanuel Olivares are not pending at this time.

On July 4, Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the murder of Ray Jasso for Raul Najera.

On July 5, Detectives received a tip about the whereabouts of Najera. With the assistance of the Texas Rangers, Sheriff’s Deputies went to Najera’s known residence located at 613 Frisco St., Houston and took custody of him. He was transported to MCSO Criminal Investigations Division office where he was interviewed, then booked into jail, where he is being held on a $500,000 bond.
