MSCO Livestock Unit Seizes Cruelly-Emaciated Horses

An SPCA investigator assists in the seizure of a severely emaciated animal.
Judge Trey Spikes issued an order for the remand of this horse, a victim of cruelty, to the Houston SPCA.

Conroe, February 16 – On February 15, 2017, after the Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding animal cruelty, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Livestock Unit went to the 200 block of Eastwood Drive, Conroe, Texas 77301. Upon arrival, the Deputies met with Investigators from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).  The SPCA Investigator advised that they had been trying to track several horses down for more than two months.  The SPCA Investigators originally located the horses on Coaltown Road back in November of 2016.

When SPCA Investigators went back for a follow up investigation, someone had moved the animals to another location.  The SPCA Investigators developed information that the horses were possibly moved to an address on Eastwood Dive in the City of Conroe.

During the investigation, Deputies and Investigators located and determined that the horses were in an emaciated state, far beyond what was originally observed back in November of last year.  In November, 2016, Judge Trey Spikes had issued a seizure order for the animals that required the horses be remanded to the custody of the Houston SPCA until final disposition of the case.

The investigation continues and charges are expected soon.
