The Golden Hammer Staff Reports
Conroe and The Woodlands, October 18 – The Montgomery County Republican Party’s (MCRP) County Executive Committee, composed of the elected Republican Precinct Chairs, voted unanimously to endorse Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs for the Woodlands Township, Position 5, in the November 5, 2019, General Election. The action occurred on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at a specially-called meeting of the County Executive Committee.
The local Republican Party began endorsing candidates in nonpartisan elections under particular circumstances beginning in June, 2018, when the County Executive Committee adopted new Bylaws to disperse the Party’s authority and empower grassroots conservative activists. Since that time, the Party has enjoyed enormous success with its endorsement of strong Republicans, like Sekula-Gibbs, who are running in nonpartisan elections.
One of the leaders behind the Republican Party’s move to become involved in nonpartisan races is Party Vice Chairman Reagan Reed. Reed gave an exclusive interview to The Golden Hammer yesterday and said, “Shelley is the only Republican in her race, running against two democrats. The radical leftists are making a concerted effort to take over seats on local government boards by running in ‘nonpartisan’ elections.”
Reed further explained, “Make no mistake- there are no nonpartisan elections. One of the big changes in the bylaws was to allow the Republican Party to endorse Republicans running for these positions, and since the bylaws change, the MCRP has had a 100% success rate in defeating democrats in local elections.”
Reed explained the particular strength of Sekula-Gibbs: “After vetting the candidates, the MCRP determined that Shelley is well qualified, having served on the Houston City Council and also in Congress where she filled out the remainder of Tom DeLay’s term. She has a conservative record, and the Republican Party voted to endorse her unanimously!”
Sekula-Gibbs will appear on “It’s Hammer Time,” the popular Facebook Live and YouTube show at MCP.TV at noon today, Friday, October 18, 2019.
