Conroe, April 25 – Precinct 2 Montgomery County Commissioner Charlie Riley and Precinct 1 County Commissioner Mike Meador received “The Golden Hammer Award” at the Tuesday, April 24, 2018, meeting of the Montgomery County Commissioners Court. As usual, Riley turned red during the presentation while Meador appeared to sleep. Afterwards, Riley gave “The Golden Hammer” to Charlie Riley Band drummer Tom Conley to add to his collection for use in the political Band’s presentations.
Here’s what The Golden Hammer‘s Publisher said during the presentation to the Riley and Meador:
“NetData costs the taxpayers over $880K per year.
“Our Sheriff’s Office has experienced a severe shortage of policepower and a leadership crisis.
“Engineering contracts are padded, inflated, and severe unreasonable, so the citizens don’t get the mobility we’ve paid for.
“Our County Treasurer’s Office and our County Auditor’s Office are both a mess. They don’t follow GAAP. They don’t follow the simplest procedures.
“We have massive waste, out-of-control salaries, and some of the unhappiest employees the citizens have ever witnessed.
“Our County Judge can’t control himself during Commissioners Court meetings and tramples upon the First Amendment rights of citizen after citizen, as we just witnessed a few minutes ago in this meeting.
“And our entire County government is a closed secret and anti-citizen society.
“Who’s to blame?
“Clearly, two people: Charlie Riley and Mike Meador are responsible for all of it. They receive today’s ‘Golden Hammer Award.’
“Why? Because the Texas Constitution, Section 18(b), second sentence, places the responsibility on you to “exercise such powers and jurisdiction over all County business.”
“That’s one-half of your job. But you refuse to do it. Instead, you’ve given that job to someone else we didn’t elect to do it by the name of Craig Doyal. You’ve even refused to take your job duties back.
“So every time someone suffers an unnecessary crime, their tire blows out because you haven’t cleaned a 242 flyover, or a JP puts in place a collection system that does everything except collect, IT’S ON YOUR SHOULDERS. YOU’RE NOT PERFORMING YOUR JOB DUTIES. YOU’RE HAMMERING US.”
