Flooded homes in Montgomery County need our help.
Thanks to the leadership of Precinct 3 County Commissioner James Noack, our County government has stepped up by allowing those flooded homes to be re-appraised. Reappraisals are allowed under a provision of the Texas Tax Code, so that these homes will not need to suffer taxation at the full amount for the prorated portion of the tax year when they were damaged.
Now, it is the communities themselves who need to step up. I hereby challenge every homeowners association and property owners association in Montgomery County to offer these flood victims a break by waiving their association dues this year, and maybe next.
That’s what being a good neighbor is all about. The associations should show leadership and that it’s not all about the money.
Montgomery County, Texas, is a great place. Let’s show how great we can be to each other and show that to the rest of the world as well.
