Eric Yollick, The Golden Hammer
It’s good that candidates for public office have supporters. It would be difficult for people to run without support.
It would also be good for people to provide some analysis and rationale for their support for individuals running for public office. If someone merely types “Smith 2018!” or “#Smith2018” then all they’re telling us is that they have blind faith in some human being for one reason or another. But let’s be honest about all of this discussion: we shouldn’t have blind faith in any person on this planet. As citizens we should watch what any person in public office does.
For people to write “Clark 2018!” or “Metts 2018!” or “Riley 2018!” or “Parker 2018!” or “#_____” (fill in the blank), all those people are telling us about is an attribute of theirs. That attribute is that they come to conclusions with no analysis whatsoever and they do not fulfill their duty in the American system of government as citizens to watch and understand what the government is doing.
Therefore, it truly seems appropriate, at this time, for The Golden Hammer, Montgomery County’s leading daily newspaper, to endorse the year 2018. 2018 is a good year. It’s got 365 robust days. So far, the weather has been nice in Texas during the 74 days we’ve had. Even the Ides of March has been pretty good so far.
