Conroe, August 28 – Melanie Pryor Bush, candidate for Montgomery County Treasurer, issued the following press release this morning:
“Our hearts are broken with all of the setbacks and pain that friends in this region are suffering as a result of Hurricane Harvey. It is devastating and continues to be unbelievable.
“We are, of course, postponing this Thursday’s Campaign Kick-off until a date just a little later. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with all of those affected by the floods of Hurricane Harvey, and we will be busy doing everything we can to help those who need it.
“Instead of the Campaign Kick-off this Thursday, we will host a food drive supporting Montgomery Co Food Bank and a ‘Basics Clothes Drive’ supporting Moms Helping Moms. Both of these organizations can use the support right now, so that they can support our neighbors who need it most.
“Please bring non-perishable food items and basic clothes items, like NEW underwear, socks and shoes in mostly children’s sizes, but they can use some adult sizes, too. Bring them to our drop-off point at Landry’s Seafood Parking Lot on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm.
“We know this is but a starting point, but there are people everywhere in our county who have left their homes and have little or nothing to sustain their families. Please help out if you can. And, please pray for our neighbors.
“We will let you know the reschedule date in a couple of days and we look forward to celebrating more than just a campaign kick-off with each of you. We fully intend to celebrate the true resilient spirit of Montgomery County!”
