Conroe, July 10 – On Sunday, July 8, 2019, at about 7:20 p.m., Deputy J. Torres received a citizen’s report of a possible impaired driver who had pulled into the Shell gas station in the 15400 block of Highway 105 West. Going to that location, Deputy Torres located the suspect vehicle as it left the station.
After following and observing several traffic violations, Deputy Torres stopped the vehicle on Navajo Road near Mohawk Bend. Upon contacting the driver, MIGUEL ANGEL CANDIA CANTU, Hispanic male, 23 years of age, of Conroe, Deputy Torres conducted field sobriety tests and determined that CANTU was intoxicated. Further, CANTU tested at 0.203 on a mobile intoxilyzer device, about 2.5 times the legal limit of 0.08.
The Assistant District Attorney on duty accepted charges against CANTU for Driving While Intoxicated, 1stoffense, Class B Misdemeanor, and he was booked into the Montgomery County Jail without incident.
Constable Gene DeForest continues to stress the dangers of driving while intoxicated, and places a high priority on enforcement of this crime in Montgomery County.
