Conservative Vigilance Calendar, October 5 to October 11

Image: United States Senator Jesse Helms (1921-2008), Republican of North Carolina, was one of the greatest public servants who ever lived, as Montgomery County Republican Party Treasurer John Hill Wertz will undoubtedly tell you. Helms was the founder of the Congressional Club and a major backer of the National Conservative Political Action Committee. Helms, Terry Dolan, and Lee Atwater were the creators of modern targeted campaign methods. Together, they brought the Republican Party into the southern United States, along with a major assist from President Richard Nixon.
