Conservative Vigilance Calendar, July 27 to August 2

Montgomery County, July 27 – For vigilant conservatives, the week ahead may very well be the most important political week of 2019. The largest taxing entity in Montgomery County, the Conroe Independent School District will begin a November 2019 bond workshop on Monday, July 29. The Montgomery County government, which sets the tone for budgets will hold their five days of budget workshops beginning Monday morning, July 29.

A busy week is coming for vigilant conservatives.

Saturday, July 27 – Bagpipe Appreciation Day.

Sunday, July 28 – The Golden Hammer will publish an article which looks at why conservatives should intensify their efforts in a piece entitled “The Grand Strategy.”

Sunday, July 28 – National Parents Day.

July 29 – National Lasagna Day.

Monday, July 29, 9:30 a.m., Sadler Administration Building, 501 North Thompson Street, 4th Floor Commissioners Courtroom, Conroe, Texas – The Montgomery County Commissioners Court will hold the first day of the Budget Workshop. On this day, Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough, at the request of Precinct 3 Montgomery County Commissioner James Noack and a private citizen, will reserve the time for citizens to comment on the Proposed Fiscal 2020 Budget.

Monday, July 29, 6 p.m., Conroe ISD Administration Building, 3205 West Davis Street, Conroe, Texas – The Conroe Independent School District’s Board of Trustees will receive their instructions from the school district’s administration with respect to the bond package the administration wants the Board to put before the voters in November, 2019.

Monday, July 29, 6:30 p.m., Grace School of Theology, 3705 College Park Drive, Conroe – The Montgomery County Republican Party Vacancy Committee will meet to discuss Precinct Chair vacancies and to nominate candidates for those positions.

Tuesday, July 30, 9 a.m., Conroe City Hall, 300 West Davis, Conroe – The Conroe City Council will hold a Special City Council meeting to discuss the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget.

Tuesday, July 30, 9:30 a.m. Sadler Administration Building, 501 North Thompson Street, 4th Floor Commissioners Courtroom, Conroe, Texas – The Montgomery County Commissioners Court will hold a regular meeting. Immediately at the conclusion of the regular meeting, the Commissioners Court will continue the Budget Workshop.

Wednesday, July 31, probably at 9:30 a.m., Sadler Administration Building, 501 North Thompson Street, 4th Floor Commissioners Courtroom, Conroe, Texas – The Commissioners Court will continue the Budget Workshop.

Wednesday, July 31, 12 noon, MCP.TV (Facebook Live or YouTube) – “This Week in Montgomery County Politics.”

Thursday, August 1 – National Mountain Climbing Day. It’s a great time of year to climb a mountain to celebrate. Have you ever climbed the high point of Montgomery County, Texas?

Two climbing partners (J.R. Lyles of Phoenix at right, a traveling man from farther east at left) on July 27, 2014, at approximately 6:30 a.m., at the summit of Mount Elbrus, Caucasus Mountains, Russia. Mount Elbrus, at 18,510 feet, is the highest mountain in Europe. Mount Elbrus is one of the Seven Summits. They began climbing from the Base Camp around 11:45 p.m. the night before in a terrible ice storm, which dissipated by the time they reached approximately 17,500 feet elevation.

Thursday, August 1, probably at 9:30 a.m., Sadler Administration Building, 501 North Thompson Street, 4th Floor Commissioners Courtroom, Conroe, Texas – The Commissioners Court will continue the Budget Workshop.

Thursday, August 1, 6:45 p.m., Incredible Pizza, 230 S. Loop 336, Conroe – Montgomery County Eagle Forum will present author Trevor Loudon who wrote “The Enemies Within.”

Friday, August 2, probably at 9:30 a.m., Sadler Administration Building, 501 North Thompson Street, 4th Floor Commissioners Courtroom, Conroe, Texas – The Commissioners Court will continue the Budget Workshop. On this last day of the Budget Workshop, the citizens usually witness the worst behavior by the Commissioners Court when they typically vote themselves immense pay raises and take other hasty actions to spend all for the money they hope to collect from the citizens.

Friday, August 2, 12 noon MCP. TV (Facebook Live or YouTube) – “It’s Hammer Time” will feature live coverage of the Montgomery County Budget Workshop from Conroe.

Friday, August 2 – International Beer Day. Yes, it’s true that Saturday, August 3, is International Hangover Day. The Association of California Brewers created both holidays. (Please drink responsibly.)
