March 31 – Precinct 4 Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden’s aggressive law enforcement team has arrested and placed into custody Santos Wilson Chavez-Chavez for money laundering. Chavez-Chavez is a dangerous criminal known for his involvement in human smuggling.
Around 5:30 p.m. on March 29, 2017, a Precinct 4 K9 handler and K9 deputy stopped a vehicle in the area of Highway 59 and East River Road in Splendora for multiple traffic and vehicle violations. When asked, the driver told the Deputy Constable that his name was Welner Leiby Paxtor-Chavez, born December 19, 1989, with a Guatemala identification card. The Deputy Constable used a portable fingerprint scanner to locate the driver’s real name, Santos Wilson Chavez-Chavez.
Chavez-Chavez has been involved in at least two human smuggling cases previously. K9 “Dino” “alerted” on the rear of his vehicle during the stop. Inside the vehicle, the Deputy Constable located a large amount of United States currency. Chavez-Chavez responded that the money was payment for transporting six people from Houston to Baltimore, Maryland, a few days ago. He admitted this trip to Baltimore was his third in 3 months.
The Deputies arrested Chavez-Chavez for money laundering and seized his vehicle. Constable Hayden is working with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to complete the investigation.
