Mount of Beatitudes, Israel, May 7 – State Senator Brandon Creighton, Republican of Conroe, toured the Mount of Beatitudes today as part of his tour of Israel the purpose of which is to make a presentation on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Senator Creighton worked with Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Representative Phil King (R-Weatherford), and Israeli Knesset Member Sharren Haskel to pass HB 89 last session during the 85th Texas Legislature. This legislation prevents any taxpayer dollars from going to companies that work against Israel. Senator Creighton will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu and present him with the bill and the pen that Governor Abbott used to sign the bill into law last May. This was the first piece of legislation that Governor Abbott signed for the 85th Legislature.
Today, Creighton toured the Mount of Beatitudes and provided live film footage of his experience. The Mount of Beatitudes is where Jesus Christ delivered the Sermon on the Mount, which Matthew described in Chapter 5 of his Gospel in the New Testament.
Israel recently celebrated it’s 70th Independence Day. This week American diplomats will be traveling to Jerusalem, the nation’s capitol, to discuss the process of relocating the American embassy, an initiative which President Donald Trump announced recently.
Creighton said, “I am honored to accept Prime Minister Netanyahu’s invitation to meet with him in Israel to discuss trade relations and continued support for Israel as a democracy and our strongest ally in the Middle East. I look forward to learning more about their political history and fortify the strong relationship the State of Texas has with this nation.”
