Austin, October 16 – The delegates of the Republican Party of Texas Convention have voted to adopt the 2020 Republican Party Platform. Every proposed plank of the Platform passed in the voting in which delegates voted plank-by-plank.

One of the Platform planks which received the most support was a Plank calling for reduced government spending on the local, state, and federal levels of government, which received 96.2% of the delegates’ votes.

All ten (10) of the Party’s basic Principles at the beginning of the Platform passed with support of more than ninety percent (90%) of the Delegates.

The Platform Principle which received the most support from the Delegates reads “We, the 2020 Republican Party of Texas, believe in this platform and expect our elected leaders to uphold these truths through acknowledgment and action. We believe in…[t]he inalienable right of all people to defend themselves and their property.”

As a result of the interference with the Republican State Convention by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, a Democrat, the entire Republican Convention was virtual.

A minority report to add a Platform Plank supporting an Article V Convention of the States to the Platform passed but with only 64.7% of the votes. It received the lease support of any Plank in the Republican Platform.
