BREAKING NEWS: Representative Keough To Author Jointly Bill to Make LSGCD Board An Elected One

Austin, January 29 – Jason Millsaps, Chief of Staff to State Representative Mark Keough (R-The Woodlands), contacted The Golden Hammer this evening to clarify that Representative Keough intends to author jointly the bill of State Representative Will Metcalf (R-Conroe) to elect the entire Board of Directors of the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District (LSGCD).

Millsaps said, “This bill is one that the entire Montgomery County delegation is fighting for 100%.”

The present nine-member LSGCD Board of Directors comprises representatives of the SJRA (1), the City of Conroe (1), all other municipalities in Montgomery County (1), the Woodlands Joint Power Agency (1), the Montgomery County Commissioners Court (2), and representatives of certain regions of MUDs (3), all of which those political subdivisions appoint. None of the Board members are elected.

The Montgomery County Commissioners Court, in a motion of Precinct 4 County Commissioner Jim Clark, seconded by Precinct 3 County Commissioner James Noack, passed a resolution to support electing the entire Board, at the January 24, 2017, Commissioners Court meeting.
