Conroe, July 8 – The Montgomery County Republican Party (MCRP) and its County Executive Committee (CEC), composed of the elected Republican Precinct Chairs, voted unanimously to censure Texas Governor Greg Abbott for his unconstitutional executive orders in response to the Chinese Coronavirus panic, during a special meeting of the CEC on Tuesday, July 8, 2020, in Conroe. The author of the resolution was MCRP Vice Chairman Reagan Reed.

The meeting was brief and required very little discussion. Reed read the resolution for the entire CEC to hear prior to the discussion and vote on the resolution.

Specifically, the resolution calls upon the Republican Party of Texas to censure Abbott under Rule 44 of the Republican Party of Texas Rules for violating the Constitution repeatedly and for disregarding the provisions of the Republican Party of Texas Platform through the illegal and unconstitutional mandates he has issued since the beginning of the COVID-19 panic. The mandates have resulted in millions of lost jobs in Texas and billions of dollars of lost business revenue to the Texas economy.
