BREAKING NEWS! 0800, September 13, 2017. THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS AN UPDATE.
Conroe, September 13 – It’s unbelievable that the Montgomery County government website is broken (again). No one can access the website this morning. Litigants and their attorneys can’t file court papers. Disaster victims can’t find information – to the extent there is much on the county website – about obtaining relief.
The multi-million Information Technology Department of Montgomery County is, has been, and will continue to be a mess.
That makes a lot of sense given the three people who micro-manage the IT Department – County Judge Craig Doyal who has little or no IT background (or background in much else, for that matter), “chief of staff” jim fredricks who only works a couple of hours a day on his $118,000 per year salary, and local political boss Marc Davenport who runs the IT Department and dictates policy.
Update at 0850. The system came back at approximately 0839 this morning. Hopefully, users of the County website did not suffer too much damage.
