Houston, April 2 – Russell Henley won the Shell Houston Open this afternoon by storming into the lead with a final round 7-under-par 65. He started the day four shots behind leader Sung Kang of South Korea.
By winning Houston, the Georgia native and University of Georgia graduate Henley seized the final qualifying spot in the Masters Tournament next week at Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia. The 27-year-old Henley currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina.
Sung Kang came in second place with a score of 17-under-par in his attempt to win his first victory on the PGA Tour.
This win is Henley’s third PGA Tour victory but his first since he won the Sony Open in Hawai’i in 2014.
