New Caney, Conroe, and Austin, October 13 – State Senator Brandon Creight (R-Conroe) announced after midnight that the hearing of the Texas Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water & Rural Affairs on the East Montgomery County Improvement District Building on Monday, October 16, 2017, at 9 a.m., will include representatives of the San Jacinto River Authority, which has been the subject of intense criticism for its handling of the stormwaters from Tropical Storm Harvey.
Creighton made the following statement to The Golden Hammer, Montgomery County’s leading daily newspaper at 12:03 a.m., during the morning of Friday, October 13:
“SJRA has been asked to be at the hearing and they have accepted. This has all come together since the chairman of the committee posted for the hearing a couple of days ago. It certainly involves the river authority and all flood control issues associated.. It’s a regional hearing so issues across Harris County will be considered including Kingwood which is just 3 miles from the venue of this hearing.”
The hearing will occur on Monday, October 16, 2017, 9 a.m., East Montgomery County Improvement District, 21575 US 59, Suite 200, New Caney, Texas 77357. Senator Creighton’s office telephone number is 512.463.0104, if anyone has questions concerning the hearing.
Senator Creighton and the Committee have invited the public to attend.
