BREAKING NEWS!

Conroe, August 3 – Conroe Independent School District (CISD) Trustee Skeeter Hubert, who has made clear he, along with the five other pro-Big-Government members of the CISD Board, intend to raise taxes and thrust another school bond package at the voters, has gone on the offensive against conservatives who object to the direction of the school district. In all of the discussions about the higher taxes CISD intends to force on taxpayers and about the massive $683 school bond, which is basically the same bond as the one voters rejected on May 4, 2019, by a near-landslide margin, neither the  Board, Hubert, nor the administration have provided any information about whether or not the higher taxes and giant debt will improve educational outcomes for the community’s children.

In the failed $807 million bond election, CISD admitted that the school district had no information about improving education outcomes. They just wanted to spend a lot of money.

Today, however, Hubert has taken the hyperbole to a whole new level of nastiness, which he has directed against conservatives who are upset about the higher taxes CISD intends to inflict on the community. On Monday, July 29, 2019, Mark Frank, a Republican Precinct Chairman from Conroe, led a protest at CISD’s palatial administrative offices in Conroe. A photograph of Frank and other Conroe residents protesting against the tax hike and proposed CISD bond appeared on the front page of The Golden Hammeron Friday, August 2, 2019. The protesters held signs criticizing CISD for its high tax and high spending policies but conducted a peaceful protest without incident along State Highway 105 (West Davis Street) in Conroe.

Hubert’s full social media rant appears at the end of this article.

Hubert, however, accused Frank and the protesters of engaging in “violence.” Hubert said, “For the record, does TGH (The Golden Hammer, Montgomery County’s leading daily newspaper) support out right violence as pictured?” The photograph showed five individuals peacefully holding protest signs and standing outside of the right-of-way at the front of CISD.

Hubert continued, “If that is Mark Frank pictured on the far left, he should be ashamed. I hope he grows up and I encourage him to have civil discourse and not advocate violence such as many of the BLM [Black Lives Matters] and occupy wall street groups [sic] have done in the past. I hope he is better in the future.”

The Publisher of this newspaper responded, “I don’t see any violence. Where is there violence in the photograph?”

Hubert answered, “What does ‘take a board to the Board’ mean? I’m just asking if TGH supports violence.”

The Publisher responded,”The Golden Hammer supports appropriate measures of physical force for law enforcement and public safety as well as for national defense. it is very apparent that Mark Frank’s comment was figurative. The Board of Trustees has utterly failed to do its job. We elected you to represent us, not just act by rote in response to direction from the school district administration. As a voter, the way to ‘take the board’ to such an irresponsible Board of Trustees is to get them out of office. Why? Because clearly, you do not listen to the citizens at all. You’re in a cocoon in which you only listen to a very tiny portion of the electorate. You took no message whatsoever from a pretty clear message you received earlier this year. Now, instead, you’re actually going to vote to adopt a new budget with a tax rate which is HIGHER than the effective tax rate. You’re raising debt service by 4.5 cents. So, yes, I believe it’s time to ‘take the board to the Board’ figuratively speaking as well. If that upsets your snowflake ears, then that’s tough. Kelli Cook, John Nickell, John Hill Wertz, Jon Bouche, Cindy Muth Gaskill, Jennie Stephenson, what say you?”

Hubert then tried to claim that, somehow, in its latest actions, CISD “herd” (sic) and acted upon the majority of people. Of course, the majority of voters have most certainly not called on CISD to impose a tax increase!

Cindy Muth Gaskill, a renowned local conservative researcher whose family goes back to generations who fought in the Alamo, answered Hubert, “No violence. Just people exercising their first amendment rights.”

Hubert then complained, “…and calling on your version of ‘The Squad’ is silly. It’s like your [sic] figuratively saying ‘let’s go gang up in Skeeter. He’s saying something.”

When The Golden Hammer‘s Publisher asked Hubert whom he referred to as “The Squad,” Hubert left the colloquy.

“The Squad” is a term, which President Donald Trump coined to refer to four anti-American socialist, pro-Muslim freshman members of Congress. It seems as though Hubert may consider exercising greater care in his name-calling, as he chose to pile the appellation upon six of Montgomery County’s most patriotic, pro-community, and pro-American political activists, Kelli Cook, John Nickell, John Hill Wertz, Jon Bouche, Cindy Muth Gaskill, and Jennie Stephenson.

Undoubtedly, the best response to Hubert’s rant came from a member of “The Hubert Squad,” who has requested anonymity due to shyness, when she said, “He’s so offended by the thought of violence yet he touts the benefits of teaching kids to shoot each other with fake guns.” She referred, of course, to the school district’s plan to include construction of an air soft gun range within its bond package (as well as the bond package which previously failed.)

On May 14, 2019, Hubert went on another rant on social media in which he insisted that he has far more knowledge those so stupid to criticize him. Please see “BREAKING NEWS! CISD Trustee Hubert explains why conservatives don’t ever win; they’re stupid!,” The Golden Hammer, May 14, 2019.

Hubert is the Board member of CISD whose home has a strange ownership. Nelda Blair and Jim Blair have a one-half ownership interest in Hubert’s home. The Blairs, of course, their their law firm Linebarger Goggan Blair, which does property tax collection work for the school district, are one of CISD’s largest vendors. Hubert also works for Woodforest Financial which, during Hubert’s tenure, has become a vendor to the school district as well.

Therefore, Hubert’s interest in higher taxes, larger spending, and attacking name-calling against individuals who oppose those policies is quite clear.
