Houston, March 31 – The Golden Hammer received an anonymous tip this morning that, despite press reports of two positive test results for Chinese coronavirus among Amazon warehouse employees at its 10550 Ella Boulevard, Houston, location, in fact there are three positive test results. This newspaper confirmed the story when two employees of the warehouse called, identified themselves on the condition of anonymity, and described the working conditions therein.

The Amazon employees said that they have complained to their superiors and to upper management of the company that Amazon is not taking any action to protect them from other employees who may carry the virus within the warehouse. The employees also said they expressed to Amazon management that packages from the warehouse could be “flu positive if they carry spit or mucus particles from sick employees.”

Cardboard is, of course, organic. Nevertheless, it’s mostly plant material. Such surfaces may carry and transmit the virus for up to 72 hours, according to the United States Centers for Disease Control. Amazon’s Ella warehouse distributes packages to the Greater Houston area.

The employees explained that they are particularly upset with the company, because Amazon’s Ella location has one lunchroom which often has three hundred (300) employees approximately on lunch break in it at the same time. According to the two employees and the anonymous tipster, Amazon has failed to take any precautions to protect the employees, although in other press reports Amazon claims that it has begun to take certain precautions.

Amazon did not return telephone calls seeking comment.
