Conroe, July 15 – One Entergy worker died and another suffered severe injuries by electrocution this afternoon shortly after 3 p.m. while working at the Margaritaville Lake Conroe Resort. The accident left the resort without power.
Conroe Police Department initiated an investigation into the cause of death. Judge Wayne Mack, the Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, led the investigation, although employees of the Montgomery County Forensic Center also were at the death scene.
Safety officials with Entergy joined in the investigation.
Margaritaville is still without power and has now closed the resort for the safety of the guests, and until a thorough investigation can be conducted by safety crews and investigators.
Margaritaville issued the following statement:
The team at Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe | Houston extends its thoughts and prayers to those involved in today’s unfortunate accident.
Shortly after 3 p.m. two contractors of our energy provider were performing electrical work on property when an incident occurred.
Police, fire, and emergency medical teams immediately responded to the scene. Out of respect for the individuals and their families, any questions should be deferred to the local authorities.
As a result of the incident, there is currently no power at the resort.
