Babysitting friend arrested for two counts of felony injury to a child

Spring, March 2 – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit arrested Jackie Brent Nance, 33, of Spring for two counts of felony injury to a child after the mother of two children had left the with Nancy while she went out of town for an extended period of time. Upon returning, she discovered that her two children had severe bruising and internal injuries and immediately took the children to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.


After receiving a dispatch from a hospital call, detectives arrived and learned from medical staff that, a three year old male child and a two-month old male infant were brought into the hospital by their mother with severe injuries, consistent with child abuse. During the investigation, Detectives discovered that both children had been severely abused and injured. The two month old infant is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), in critical condition. The three year old child has been discharged from Texas Children’s Hospital to the care of his mother.

During the investigation, Detectives identified the suspect as Nance, a 33 year old male from Spring, Texas.   Detectives, with the assistance of Texas Children’s Hospital and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, applied for and received two arrest warrants for Nance.

On March 1, 2017, Deputies with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT arrested Nance, without incident, and transported him to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Jail. Nance was booked and charged with two counts of felony injury to a child.
