Roger Ailes, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Fox News, died on May 18, 2017, at the age of 77.

New York, May 18 – Roger Ailes, the long time brilliant, yet controversial president of Fox News, died at age 77 this morning, according to an announcement by Fox News. Aides served as the president and Chief Executive Officer of Fox News for 21 years from 1996 to 2016 and made the national news channel competitive with similar news stations. He resigned in 2016 after allegations of sexual harassment by Ailes began to dog Fox News and Ailes.

As a television producer, Ailes was definitely a hardworking executive who carefully managed Fox News and was involved in almost all major programming decisions. He was instrumental in the hiring and development of its core news staff of Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and other celebrities associated with the network.
